Born of the Will to be Free

Because the West Wing often says it best, in the words of Sam Seaborn, why I think privacy is so important and why the recent news about the NSA is more than troublesome:

"It's about the next twenty years... the next two decades are going to be about privacy. I'm talking about the Internet, I'm talking about cell phones, I'm talking about health records and who's gay and who's not. Moreover, in a country born of the will to be free, what could be more fundamental than this."

"Harmony. That's the word that' stuck in my mind.

Harmony. It's not about what's lasting or

permanent. It is about individual voices

coming together for a moment. And

that moment lasts the length of a breath."

-Francis Underwood in House of Cards

Political Animals

Have you seen Political Animals? I like the main character who spoke this line:

"I'm just sick of it all. I'm sick to death of the bullshit and the egos and of the men. I am sick of the men. Just one time, just once, I would like to accomplish something in this city without having to spend all of my energy navigating the short-sighted, selfish, self-involved, and oh-so-fragile male egos that suck up all the oxygen in this town."

It's a problem in this town too.
